...IHRC Commends Chad's Government, Hail Solidarity
The Secretary-General to the International Human Rights Commission, Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik has applauded Chad's Government for the bid for a transparent 2021 presidential election and partnership with the international community for election observation
The Secretary-General in a statement made available to the press department of the Organization said enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation, international election observation has the potential to enhance the integrity of election processes, by deterring and exposing irregularities and fraud and by providing recommendations for improving electoral processes. It can promote public confidence, as warranted, promote electoral participation and mitigate the potential for election-related conflict.
“International election observation is conducted for the benefit of the people of the country holding the elections and for the benefit of the international community. It is process-oriented, not concerned with any particular electoral result, and is concerned with results only to the degree that they are reported honestly and accurately in a transparent and timely manner", he said.
Therefore, the systematic, comprehensive, and accurate gathering of information concerning the laws, process, and institutions related to the conduct of elections and other factors concerning the overall electoral environment; the impartial and professional analysis of such information; and the drawing of conclusions about the character of electoral processes based on the highest standards for accuracy of information and impartiality of analysis, hinged on the responsibility of our Volunteer Observers explains the fact of a transparent election, he added.
While conveying his gratitude to the Volunteer Observers working in the election, the Secretary-General urged Volunteers to be law-abiding and ensure working for the protection of human rights.
“I wholeheartedly greet all the other participants. Do not worry. By the signed agreement, the government and other security services in Chad will watch over your safety. Please write current reports on your work and pay special attention to your comments and statements for the press and TV.
All the Instructions for conduct I have given this morning to your coordinators personally. Please consult everything with them and be neutral and careful, as this is your first major mission", Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik.
The International Human Rights Commission will continue to uphold the rights of people and ensure compliance with the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
